M.Sc., Systems Engineering (2002),Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (at COPPE Institute), with the dissertation: "Um Ambiente para Mineração de Utilização da Web" ("An Architecture for Web Usage Mining"). My M.Sc. tutor was Geraldo Xexéo, DSc, professor at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. To see the thesis presentation slides, click here (in Portuguese).

M.Sc., Cognitive Science and Language (2006), Barcelona University, with a dissertation on Named Entities Recognition (NER) and Information Extraction. My tutor was Toni Badia, Ph.D., professor at Pompeu Fabra University.

I've worked as a consultant, software engineer and researcher in many industrial and academic projects, in places like Petrobrás (Rio de Janeiro) and Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona).

I've been a teacher in graduate and post-graduate courses in Universidade Federal da Bahia, Universidade Católica de Salvador, UNIFACS (Salvador, Bahia) and Universidade Estácio de Sá (Rio de Janeiro).

Since 2008, I am the coordinator of the Advanced Development Group of Barcelona Media Foundation, which develops software for areas like Social Media, Computational Linguistics, Advanced User Interfaces, mobile applications and so on.
